Does anyone know of any legitimate work from home opportunities? I live in central Indiana. I have a home office. I dont expect a get rich quick thing. Just something to earn extra money from my house.
This is a tough one because it really depends so much on your specific skillset and what you personally like to do. There is literally a work at home opportunity for every possible niche that you cna think of. So I would really counsel sitting down and working out what you are passionate abouit and what you do/dont enjoy doing. That way when you really have to work hard to make the $$$ start to flow then it wont seem like such a big grind.

There are a couple customer service areas that are legit. You must apply, you must have a good range of availability and meet their system needs so you and service their customers.
Check out
LiveOps.com and
AlpineAccess
to start
Both will pay you slightly above minimum wage and both have training programs - all of which you do from home.

Hey Ashley - Long-story-short, there aren’t a lot of legit work from home opportunities out there unless you have a specific skill set (IT, loan processing, etc)… Most (a lot) are companies that require you to pay them for "information" to obtain these "jobs". If you like writing, freelance is always an option - blogging could help (get advertisers) - or you could start a Mary Kay/Avon type business.
I’m primarily a marketing guy for a mortgage company and use Send Out Cards to stay in touch with my clients/friends. If you were serious about staying home, there is an income potential with them. I’ve put the link below, check them out and I’m here to help if you need more answers.
Good luck!

There are legit business, but they are few and far between.
It took me about three years of hunting through hundreds of WFH businesses. Hours and hours of research to find just three (I figure a 100:1 ratio).
My suggestion is this- protect your SSN first, your computer, and then start your research.
Ease of access to the company is a good sign- if they have a dozen numbers and an address (not a PO box) then they look good. US bound- even better. Does the BBB like or dislike them? Do they have free training and support or do they sign up up and cut you loose? How long have they been around? Years or decades was my requirement. MLM? I always ran from them (MLMs). What do they do? What are you expected to do?
Do not expect a get rich or big checks over night, good companies will have a program that you follow and make it with.
If you need help drop me an email and I will see what I can do to help you

Below are a couple great forum sites with new work at home job leads everyday. There are lots of supportive members on both sites who either already work from home or are there to help others find a job. There are also threads on how to spot scams and scams people have had experience with. Be sure to read those. You can also use http://www.ripoffreport.com as a great resource to protect yourself from scams.

http://www.wahm.com/forum/ –Job leads under telecommuting moms link at the bottom of the first section (this site is for everyone, not just moms)
And just in case you want to try a full-time job, I used to work for this company for a while until I could no longer work the shift I had. I am not sure if they have morning shifts available now or not. Anyway, this is a real job. No fees to start. You should never have to pay a fee to start working for a company.

It really depends on whether or not you are looking for a home based business or a home based job. There is a link to my home based business on my profile. As for home based jobs they are hard to find with all the scams and biz opps being marketed as jobs. They are out there though. You can find some good info and links to real home based jobs with the link below.
